Four quick pins helped the Polar Bear wrestling team build a 24-0 lead against the Fond du Lac Cardinals on Thursday, Jan. 22. Hortonville rode the big lead to a 51-24 victory.
Jacob Barnett (120 pounds) got things started with a pin in 38 seconds. Curtis Diedrich (126 pounds) followed with a pin in 1:43, and Nathan Lichtfuss (132 pounds) pinned his opponent in 1:58. Cam Luker (138 pounds) pinned his opponent in 1:29.
Fond du Lac got on the board when Hortonville’s Kirkland Hills (145 pounds) was pinned in 1:31.
Joe Cliver (152) avenged Hills’ loss by earning another pin for Hortonville in a time of 20 seconds. Elliot Luker (160 pounds) followed with another pin in 1:11.
Polar Bear Brad Conger (170 pounds) won an 8-3 decision before Hortonville’s Michael Hills (182 pounds) lost an 8-3 decision. Hortonville’s Jack Huebner (220 pounds) lost a 12-6 decision.
Fond du Lac picked up forfeit wins at 195 pounds and 285 pounds, while Hortonville was awarded forfeit victories at 106 pounds and 113 pounds.
