Changing world of taxidermy

The New London Public Museum will present the Art and History of Taxidermy, Saturday Feb. 21 from 9-10 a.m.

Red Simpson will be on hand to talk about the changing world of taxidermy. He discusses the history of taxidermy, using the museum’s collection and his own items. Simpson will show how this art form has evolved through the years. He’ll also talk about his work helping to restore the museum’s bird collection.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to see the exhibit EXTINCT: The 100th Anniversary of the Last Passenger Pigeon. This will be the last day it on display at the museum.

The museum will also say goodbye to four more sponsored birds in the museum’s Save the Birds fundraiser. Donn Prahl sponsored the female evening grosbeak and one of the museum’s common loons. Roger Krueger sponsored a pair of pheasants in memory of James Heinzle.

The presentation is free, coffee will be provided. Please register by Feb. 19. Contact the museum today to sign-up 920-982-8520.
