Pethke featured in Valentine’s event

A special Valentine’s Day event on Saturday, Feb. 14, features local singer Megan Pethke.

The Valentine’s Day Dinner & Country Show will be held at the Manawa Masonic Center. The dinner is from 5-7 p.m. with country music from 7-9 p.m. There will be raffles and prizes.

For the country music show, Pethke will be joined by Bobby Darren and Sheila Marie, who are regulars on RFD Midwest Country. They have also performed many times in Branson, Missouri.

Pethke performs classic country songs as “Maggie Marie” and has appeared with Darren on RFD Midwest Country.

The pre-concert music will be by High Lonesome Country.

The dinner will be served buffet style and include tenderloin tips, roasted chicken, potatoes, gravy, vegetable, coffee, milk, lemonade and dessert.

The cost is $25 per person, with limited seating. Tickets will be sold at the door only if space is available.

The event is sponsored by Zion Lutheran Church of Manawa. All proceeds go towards Zion Lutheran’s handicap assessable fund.

Pethke, 14, is a freshman at Little Wolf High School. She hopes to pursue a music career.

“Megan is definitely heading to bigger things in her singing,” said her mother, Tammy Pethke. “She has put a lot of time in with Bobby Darren, she sings a lot at home and she loves to sing. Megan knows what she wants and she works very hard at it. We as parents are super proud of her.”
