Former village administrator posts bail

Former Hortonville Village Administrator Patrick M. Vaile posted $75,000 cash bond on Friday, Feb. 20, and was released from Outagamie County Jail.

Vaile, age 60, was charged in Outagamie County Court Wednesday, Feb. 11, with 16 counts of possession of child pornography.

A preliminary hearing for Vaile is set for 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in Branch 3 of the Outagamie County Courthouse.

He resigned his position with the village after his arrest on Feb. 10, by officers from the Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigations.

Vaile served as Village Administrator in Hortonville since 2011.

The village board met in closed session Tuesday, Feb. 17 to discuss filling the vacant administrator position and providing a continuation of ongoing projects.

On Thursday, Feb. 19, the board approved the hiring process, and posting the open administrator position in various publications for the next three weeks.

The hiring process for the new administrator will include a full investigative background check, a review of the check, and could include a psychological exam. Candidates will also be asked to sign a disclosure agreement.
