Bus drivers, Iola Mills receive Star Awards

The Iola-Scandinavia School District has presented Star Awards to its bus drivers and to The Iola Mills.

The Iola Mills, owned by Tom and Melody Fucik, received the award for hosting The Haunted Mill in October.

All proceeds from the event were given to the junior class, which partnered with the Fuciks for the “haunting” experience.

Tom Fucik accepted the award and said he plans to host The Haunted Mill every year as a fundraiser for the junior class.

The administrative staff nominated the school districts bus drivers for Star Awards for “doing an excellent job getting students to and from school and to events.”

“Our bus drivers do a wonderful job safely transporting our students,” said District Administrator David Dyb. “Each morning, our kids are greeted with a smiling face that sets a positive tone for learning each and every day.”

Unlike most Star Award presentations, the bus drivers did not receive a little bag of mints. Their mints were delivered directly to the bus garage.
