Niederts, Millstone receive chamber awards

The Millstone and the Niederts were the winners of the Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce awards.

Jim and Sherry Niedert were chosen as 2014 Person of the Year for their volunteer contributions to the community.

Jim Niedert has chaired the Iola Winter Carnival’s Lutefisk Supper for the past 24 years. Sherry coordinates the volunteers for the annual supper.

The Niederts also volunteer at other area events.

The Person of the Year nominees also included Darcy Oligney, Susan Shambeau, and Herb Trinrud and Glenn Tetzlaff

The Millstone at Iola Mills was named 2014 Business of the Year for hosting The Haunted Mill. All proceeds went to the I-S High School junior class, with over 1,052 people attending the event.

The Business of the Year nominees also included First National Bank and A Taste of Elegance Bakery.
