A loaded handgun was found in a parked vehicle at Waupaca High School Monday.
A student informed Waupaca High School administrators that a handgun may be under the seat of a student’s vehicle in the parking lot.
They contaced police, who conducted a search and found a loaded 22-caliber handgun.
The owner of the handgun is a 17-year-old male student who has been suspended pending an expulsion hearing.
“There is no evidence the student had any intent to harm anyone at school,”said District Administrator David Poeschl. “Having a loaded handgun on school premises, with or without intent to use it, is a felony.”
The student has been turned over to local law enforcement.
