Driver involved in chase arrested

The man police say was involved in a high-speed chase early Friday morning was arrested Saturday afternoon.

Nickolas J. Poplawski, 23, Menasha,  allegedly fled on foot from the scene of a crash that occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. Friday .

According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, deputies spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Oklahoma. They pursued the vehicle until it crashed on State Highway 22 near Radley Road in Dayton.

Poplawski was found and taken to Waupaca County jail on Saturday, where he is waiting to appear in court on charges of felony fleeing and eluding an officer.

A warrant was issued in Calumet County on Feb. 16 for Poplawski’s arrest after he was charged with forgery uttering.
