Lady Bulldogs off to 4-0 start

The New London girls’ softball team is off to a 4-0 start this year.

The team traveled to Waupaca Saturday, April 11 and swept a doubleheader from the Lady Comets.

In the first game, New London wasted no time scoring, putting three runs on the board in the first inning. The added two runs each inning in the last four innings of the game.

The final score was 11-1.

Abby Elsholtz had the hot hand at the plate smacking four hits in four at bats. Payton Mix and Leah Porath each contributed three hits, while Molly O’Connell had two hits. As a team, the Lady Bulldogs at 11 hits.

O’Connell pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and giving up one run. She struck out eight batters.

In the second game, New London scored one run in the second inning, two in the third inning, and one in the fifth inning. New London won the game 4-0.

Porath had two hits, the only batter with more than one hit. O’Connell, Payton Mix, Shelby Sommer, McCoy Mix, and Ashlee Moeller each had one hit.

Sommer got the win for New London, throwing a complete game. He allowed five hits and struck out five.

On Tuesday, April 7, New London traveled to West De Pere and won 7-3.
