Track teams compete in two meets

Several Iola-Scandinavia and Weyauwega-Fremont track athletes placed first at recent meets in Rosholt and Wittenberg.

The I-S boys and girls placed third and second, respectively, April 17, at the Early Bird Meet in Rosholt and the Thunderbirds took fourth overall April 14 at the Charger Relays in Wittenberg. Meanwhile, the W-F boys and girls placed seventh and fourth, respectively, in Rosholt and fifth overall in Wittenberg.

Early Bird Meet

ROSHOLT – Firsts for the I-S boys went to Kristian Welch in the 100-meter dash (11.21) and long jump (21 feet, 4 1/2 inches); Dylan Robbins in the 200- and 400-meter dashes (24.3, 53/91); Tanner Krusa in the 300-meter hurdles (43.78); and the 1,600-meter relay team of Welch, Krusa, Kollin Staszak and Robbins (3:35.56).

Firsts for the I-S girls went to Hunter Frye in the 100 (13.7); Leighten Fischer in the 200 and 400 (27.43, 1:02.23) and long jump (15 feet, 6 3/4 inches); Erika Kisting in the 3,200-meter run (12:26.94); and the 3,200-meter relay team of Kisting, McKenna Prahl, Brynn Rasmussen and Natalie Rustad (11:24.92).

The W-F boys’ 800-meter relay team of Carl Koch, Dylan Pankow, Brandon Hanes and Corey Schmidt placed first in 1:39.1, while firsts for the W-F girls went to Caragan Volz in the 100-meter hurdles (16.72) and the 400-meter relay team of Miranda Arndt, Hannah Sroka, Mikaela Hintz and Volz (53.76).

Charger Relays

WITTENBERG – Firsts for the I-S boys went to the 400 relay team of Welch, Krusa, Javier Block and Robbins (47.77); the 1,600 relay team of Welch, Krusa, Block and Robbins (3:43.62); the 800-meter sprint medley relay team of Sam Jarosh, Nick Madson, Krusa and Welch (1:47.02) and Welch in the long jump relay (20 feet, 6 1/2 inches).

The I-S girls’ 4,000-meter distance relay team of Shelby Trzebiatowski, Rasmussen, Rustad and Kisting placed first in 14:18.85.

The W-F boys’ 800 relay team of Koch, Payton Magdanz, Pankow and Schmidt took first in 1:38.3, while Volz win the girls’ long jump relay with a leap of 15 feet, 2 inches.
