Park project receives $20,000 grant

The Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region awarded a a $20,000 to Cap Services Enhanced Waupaca Eco Park Project.

Waupaca was one of three area projects to receive funding through the foundation’s Environmental Sustainability Partnership Grants.

“We have stepped up the Community Foundation’s commitment to environmental projects in recent years,” said Curt Detjen, Community Foundation president and CEO. “These three projects are good for the environment and good for the community, and what better time to announce them than as Earth Day is approaching?”

Earth Day was celebrated on April 22.

The Waupaca Eco Park project a job training program for at-risk youth that will teach them to construct solar panels, install composting toilets and do other sustainable projects in the Eco Education Center at the Oz Recreational Area.

Partners for the project include the city of Waupaca, Waupaca County and the UW-Extension.
