Rotary seeks award nominations

Waupaca Breakfast Rotary Club is seeking nominations for its annual Service Above Self Award for a teacher who has made a difference through community involvement.

This includes service in a community organization, charity, service club or community project, which is above and beyond their duties as a teacher.

Those who are guidance counselors, social workers, library media specialists, school psychologists, dean of students and other positions in the district are considered teachers for the purpose of the award and are eligible to be nominated.

The Waupaca Breakfast Rotary Club appreciates the positive influence teachers have on their students in the classroom.

This award recognizes the fact that teachers also set an example to their students by being actively involved in the community.

A $250 cash award is made to the teacher, and a $250 donation is made to a charity or community project on behalf of the award recipient.

Nominations may be made by another teacher, member of the community or any organization in which the nominee is involved.

Those nominating a teacher should include an address and phone number for both themselves and the teacher they are nominating, as well as the grade or subject taught by the teacher and name of the school.

In a page or less, the nominator should describe how the nominee demonstrates the Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self” by describing the impact the nominee has had on an organization, including time spent, recruitment of other volunteers and fundraising.

Nominations are to be mailed by May 22 to: Waupaca Breakfast Rotary Club, P.O. Box 612, Waupaca, WI 54981.
