New business in Waupaca

Josh Czaikowski and Brittany Harn opened Waupaca Home Furnishings earlier this year.

She is the president of the business, and he is its vice president.

Located on County Trunk QQ, next to Kwik Trip, the furniture store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

“The store is known for Amish and Up North log furniture,” said Czaikowski.

Brands carried at Waupaca Home Furnishings include Ashley, Best Home Furnishings, Serta and Five Star.

Those who visit the store find a variety of recliners, glider rockers, bedroom sets, dinettes and matresses, as well as accessories.

“There’s always a demand for furniture,” Czaikowski said.

His start in the business began in 2007.

Czaikowski was fresh out of high school when he began working for Harn’s father Manny, who owned three Save On Furniture stores.

Those stores were located in Waupaca, Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids.

Czaikowski worked in all three stores.

About a year ago, Harn and Czaikowski started talking about taking over the business from her father.

“He brought it up to both of us, asking if we just want to open up here with a new name and new owner,” Czaikowski said.

The couple chose the location of Waupaca’s former Save on Furniture for their business.

Czaikowski said the Waupaca site is a good start for them.

“Point was 75,000 square feet. Rapids was at least half of that. This is smaller than Rapids. It is about three-fourths the space here,” he said.

They opened their store on Feb. 5 and were joined by Judy Hentges and Judi Huebner in sales.

Czaikowski said the furniture in their store differs from what is offered in Waupaca’s other furniture stores.

“We complement each other,” he said.
