Russell Holbrook, 24, of Marion, was driving southbound on U.S. Highway 45 near Hoffman Road when his vehicle rear-ended the vehicle in front of him.

Holbrook told police he looked down for a second and when he looked back up it was too late to stop. He also said he did not see the second vehicle, driven by Brian Moravec, 52, of Shiocton, slowing down to make a turn.

A passenger in the Moravec vehicle, Sydnee Dunkel, 16, of Kaukauna, was transported to the hospital for injuries.

According to the police report, Holbrook was cited for inattentive driving.

June 7 – One person was injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 7:30 a.m. in the town of Bear Creek.

John Lueck, 45, of Fond du Lac, was southbound on U.S. Highway 45 south of Silver Creek Road when he reportedly told police he swerved to avoid striking a deer.

The vehicle left the roadway, entered the west ditch, collided with a utility pole and came to rest against the pole.

The police report indicated the tire marks were not consistent with a swerve, but instead consistent with failing to negotiate a curve.
