Science and magic in Manawa

The Sturm Memorial Library will host Magic and Science Guy Jim Lenz at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at the Manawa Elementary School.

Lenz, from Green Bay, has traveled all over the Midwest, Canada and Asia performing for schools, libraries, festivals and corporate events.

Lenz uses a blend of storytelling, science and magic to present a thrilling show complete with props and set.

This performance is for all ages and is free and open to the public even though it is taking place during summer school. Any youth not attending summer school is welcome to attend; those age 7 and under must be accompanied by a responsible party.

This performance is one of several special events for the Sturm Memorial Library’s 2015 summer program “Every Hero has a Story,” which runs in June and July.

The program is off to a roaring start with close to 110 children signed up in the first four days. Youths from pre-school to age 16 can sign up any time during the eight-week program.

Most of the reading and other activities can be done independently, making it adaptable to the schedules of participants and their families.
