After New London police arrested a 42-year-old man on domestic abuse charges they discovered that Clayton County, Georgia, had issued a warrant in November 2014 for his arrest.

Michael E. McClain, of New London, was charged in Waupaca County Circuit Court with felony strangulation, battery and disorderly conduct as acts of domestic violence.

Georgia is seeking his extradition for failure to perform community service and failure to notify his probation agent of a change of address.

At approximately 9:20 a.m. Monday, June 22, two women came to the New London Police Department. The first woman said she had hit the other woman because she saw her with her man. She then started crying and accused McClain of choking and beating her.

According to the criminal complaint, McClain and the woman were at a party on June 19 when she saw the other woman touching him. After she asked what was going on, McClain allegedly began berating her, and calling her obscene, sexist names. Everybody else at the party left the house.

The woman told police that McClain punched her in the face, pulled her hair and choked her.

New London police took photos of the woman, which showed that she had a black eye, scratches on her face and hands, bruises on her arms and a clump of hair missing from the right side of her head.

McClain was taken into custody for questioning. he denied having a fight with the woman.

He remains in custody in Waupaca County jail on a $1,000 cash bond. McClain is scheduled for a review hearing of the extradition on July 21.
