Grilling at Iola ‘15

Mad Dog & Merrill visit car show
By Jane Myhra

Nationally recognized “grillologists” Mad Dog and Merrill brought their Midwest Grill’n show to the Iola Old Car Show on Friday, July 10.

This was the grilling duo’s first visit to the Iola Old Car Show.

“It’s really great to be here and get to talk to lots of our fans,” said Merrill. “Grilling and cars go together – they are both hot.”

In front of the IOCS tower, they demonstrated how to grill pizzas.

“This was our first time introducing two new pizzas – right here at the Iola Old Car Show,” Mad Dog said.

The new pizza varieties from Brew Pub Pizza were Lotzza Hotzza and Taco Grande, which will be available soon at local grocery stores.

Mad Dog and Merrill grilled the pizzas and showed how to make special pizza toppings. They then shared pizza samples with car show enthusiasts.

“Pizza on the grill is just a great combination,” Mad Dog said.

The grilling duo was accompanied by pianist Fred Beyer, of Shawano, who introduced a new song he wrote for them.

The song, “Grillz a’Blazin’,” was played at the beginning and end of the presentation.

Beyer, who annually coordinates the “Teamed to Learn” tent at IOCS, arranged the Mad Dog and Merrill visit.

Taped live at the Iola Old Car Show, the segment will first air July 26 on Channel 32. It will be shown throughout the Midwest.
