Reader says government spending creates jobs
I just finished reading Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman’s “End This Depression Now!” Here’s the message.
Fact: Cutting government spending in a weak economy kills jobs and lowers gross domestic product.
Fact: Dramatically raising government spending, especially when interest rates are very low, actually creates private as well as public jobs, and raises the GDP.
Bottom Line: Gov. Scott Walker and all the Republicans are wrong on this, the Democrats are right. And the more progressive and outspoken Democratic candidates or representatives are on this subject, the more correct they are, and the more likely they will best serve the interests of all of us, create good jobs and move this economy, this state and this country forward.
We all do better when we all do better. We’re all in this together.
