Several changes are in store for most Waupaca High School sports teams starting with the upcoming school year.

In addition to the WHS football program moving to the Bay Conference, all other Comet teams, with the exception of boys’ and girls’ hockey, will now compete in the new North Eastern Conference, which also includes Clintonville, Denmark, FVL, Freedom, Little Chute, Luxemburg-Casco, Marinette, Oconto Falls and Wrightstown.

The Eastern Valley Conference consisted of Waupaca, Berlin, Clintonville, Fox Valley Lutheran, Freedom, Little Chute, Ripon, Winneconne and Xavier.

Berlin, Ripon and Winneconne are moving from the EVC to the East Central Conference, which also includes Campbellsport, Kettle Moraine Lutheran, Kewaskum, Plymouth and Waupun. Xavier is moving to the Bay, which includes Green Bay East, Green Bay West, Menasha, New London, Seymour, Shawano and West De Pere.

The football-only Bay Conference includes Waupaca, Green Bay East, Green Bay West, Menasha, New London, Seymour, Shawano, West De Pere and Xavier.

Waupaca’s boys’ and girls’ hockey teams will remain in the Great Northern Conference.
