The Webfooter Water Ski Show Team from Fremont placed sixth in a national championships Sunday, Aug. 9.

The Webfooters competed against 13 other teams at the Indmar Marine Engines Division 1 Show Ski National Championships on the Rock River in Loves Park, Illinois.

The tournament featured more than 1,500 athletes competing for the show ski national title.

In competitive show skiing, each club has one hour to present a theatrical performance on water skis. Judges score acts by awarding points based on originality, presentation and execution.

Elaborate costumes and staging intermix with music and fast action on the water as an announcer leads the audience through the show.

“What do you get when you take 55 friends who love to ski?” said Webfooters’ President Sam Benjamin. “A family of overachievers who are willing to work to achieve their goals. No stopping the Webfooter family.”

The Webfooters will continue to showcase their skills at 5:45 p.m. Wednesdays and Sundays through Aug. 30 at their home site in downtown Fremont.

They will also host a Learn to Ski event at their site on from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16.
