Pamela Parks joined the Iola Village Board at its Aug. 10 meeting.

Appointed by Village President Joel Edler, Parks replaces the late Leland Johnson.

In other business, the board approved an easement to allow Donovan Brooke to extend sewer and water lines to his property.

The easement allows Brooke to dig trenches on village property. He will be required to restore the property to its original state.

“It won’t be a big disturbance,” said Bruce Meagher, the village’s attorney.

The board discussed changing the village’s ordinances to allow a 25-foot setback for all buildings. Currently, the building code requires a 30-foot setback for residential properties and a 25-feet setback for all other properties.

The board members agreed to proceed with the process of changing the ordinance, which includes holding a public hearing.
