Arneson, Gerald “Jerry”

Gerald “Jerry” Arneson, age 78, of Monona passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at St. Mary’s Care Center.

He is the son of William and Emma (Moder) Arneson. Jerry graduated from Clintonville High School in 1955. He then joined the United States Army and served in Germany. After the military, Jerry graduated from UW-Whitewater with a degree in accounting and gained employment in accounting at National Guardian Life Insurance of Madison until his retirement. Years ago, Jerry was an avid skier and liked to dance. He had many other interests, such as bowling in various leagues throughout the years, the occasional game of golf and being with friends, of which he had many. He loved hanging out with them and made new friends with ease.

Jerry is survived by his partner of 34 years, Steve Robinson; sister, Nancy (Lyle) Johnson; brother-in-law, Tom McClone; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, William Jr., James, Harold and Donne; three sisters, Rosemary Arneson, Elaine Poole and Jean McClone; brother-in-law, Gordon Poole; and three sisters-in-law, Elaine, Diane and Jean Arneson. Private services will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the wonderful staff of St. Mary’s Care Center for their compassionate care of Jerry. When Jerry was still home, he and Coco (our beloved cat) were best buddies while I was at work. When I came home from work, she was my best bud, but ONLY until I fed her… after the “feed”, she managed to find her way back to her favorite lap, where she would stay for as long as Jerry would let her. She, like me, misses you dearly! ~Steve.
