Trucker football documentary to be made

Clintonville fans urged to attend Friday’s game

By Bert Lehman

The Clintonville Truckers football program will be the subject of a three-minute documentary.

Head coach Scott Werfal said, US Cellular approached him about the Truckers football program being the topic of a short documentary.

According to an email Werfal received from a representative from US Cellular, the producers and creative team chose the Truckers football program to be part of the documentary series of sponsored documentary films about American high school football traditions, because they loved the story of the Clintonville Truckers.

The email also stated the films will be produced by US Cellular, in association with the Mullen Lowe Group advertising agency and Saville Productions.

“Our goal is to celebrate the fans of high school football and the communities that come together to support the players on the fields,” the email stated.

Those creating the documentary were looking for unique and inspiring stories that show the connections between high school sports teams and the community.

“We think the story of the Truckers is ideal since it sounds like everyone came together to rebuild the team — the school, the students, the parents, the town, you all worked together to bring Friday nights back to Clintonville. It’s a powerful story,” the email sated.

Filming was scheduled to take place throughout Clintonville this week, and will conclude at the home football game Friday, Aug. 28. Fans are encouraged to attend that game to show the support the team has from the community.

For being part of the documentary series, the Truckers football team will also receive a gift from US Cellular.
