Iola-Scandinavia tuned up for the upcoming Central Wisconsin-8 Conference schedule by sweeping Tigerton Sept. 1.

The Thunderbirds won all three games, 25–12, 25–14, 25-7.

“After suffering a loss last week, the girls responded with skill and enthusiasm by taking all three sets from Tigerton in strong fashion,” coach Jessica Wennesberg said. “The best part of the night was that our intensity of play kept up, if not grew, as the night went on. The girls proved that they can win and keep pushing until the last point is scored and their job is done.

“We tried some player position changes that really worked in our favor,” she added. “Baleigh Fuhs and Micaela Jobke switched roles. Micaela is now playing middle and Baleigh is outside. Both girls excelled and clearly felt comfortable with the switch.”

Fuhs and Jobke led the T-Birds with four aces, while Jobke served 100 percent.

Kaylin Ellioff and McKenna Prahl led the team with seven kills each, while Ellioff also had a team-high two block solos and two blocking assists.

The T-Birds opened CWC-8 play Sept. 8 at home against Wittenberg-Birnamwood and lost by a score of 3-1. They will travel to Shiocton at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, for another conference matchup.
