Olsen, Yvonne L.

Yvonne L. Olsen, age 85, Manawa, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Iola Living Assistance with her loving family by her side.

Yvonne was born August 8, 1930 in Appleton, daughter of the late Eric and Irma (Schmidt) Raatz. On August 29, 1947, she married Leonard Olsen. She had worked at Woody’s Cheese in Waupaca. Yvonne was a devoted member of St Mark Lutheran Church, Symco, where she had volunteered for many years scheduling the ushers and greeters for the services. She enjoyed spending time with her family and providing “doggie day care” to her special lap companion Tuffy.

Yvonne is survived by her husband of 68 years; son, Larry (Sharon), Manawa, grandchildren: Tim (Kris) Olsen, New London; Todd (Bonnie) Olsen, Manawa; Jeremy Olsen, Marion; son: Michael of McKenna, WA, and grandchildren: Wendy Williams and Scott Olsen of Puyallup, WA.; great-grandchildren: Todd Michael Olsen, Ben and Sam Olsen, and Preston and Mason Williams; Jenna LaFave and Nick LaFave, and great-great-granddaughter, Cali LaFave; two sisters: Dolores Meyer, Zittau, and Georgene Niemuth, Oshkosh; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Bea and Wes Fenske, Fl; Pat Martin, Appleton; Pam and Mike Burnett, Appleton; Orlie Pederson, Leopolis; also numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends, Marvin and June Pethke. She was preceded in death by her parents, great-granddaughter, Grace Olsen; brothers, Rick and Orlando Raatz; sister, Gwen Ory, sisters-in-law, Rae Besaw Saviano and Peggy Pederson; former daughter-in-law, Connie Olsen, and also numerous brothers-in-law and other relatives.

Visitation for Yvonne will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at St Mark Lutheran Church in Symco, with Pastor Jeffrey Smiles officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Symco. Memorials are preferred for St. Mark Lutheran Church. Yvonne’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Theda Care Hospice staff, especially Marie, Paula, and Sara, and the staff at the Iola Living Assistance for the care and compassion provided to her.
