Joyce Lorraine (Bartel) Paap passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Thedacare Hospital in Waupaca.
She had been a resident of Bethany Home in Waupaca for the past four years.
She was born to the late Hugo and Irma (Schmidt) Bartel in Fremont on August 30, 1934 and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fremont, where she also taught Sunday school for years. She worked at Fremont Lumber Company after high school and then AAL/Thrivent for 27 years. She also worked at Braaschs Bakery in Fremont. On November 16, 1963 she married Virgil Paap. She became a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in the Town of Lind, Waupaca following her marriage and they resided in rural Weyauwega. Joyce especially enjoyed reading, embroidery, baking and cooking.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil; brother, Leroy (Barbara) Bartel; brother-in-law, Larry (Judy) Paap, many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends: Tom, Debby and Matt Roemer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Vilas (Sandy) Bartel.
The Funeral Service will be on Friday, Sept 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca. The visitation will be on Friday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery in West Bloomfield.
