By Greg Seubert

Waupaca’s volleyball team dropped all four of its matches Sept. 12 at the Shiocton Invitational.

The Comets also fell to Oconto Falls Sept. 10 in a North Eastern Conference match.

Shiocton Invitational
SHIOCTON – The Comets fell to Shiocton (25-27, 15-25, 6-15); St. Mary’s Springs (19-25, 15-25, 6-15); Bonduel (23-25, 25-23, 2-15); and Southern Door (17-25, 19-25, 3-15).

“We played better at the tournament than we did at Thursday’s conference game,” coach Chelsea Benitz said. “Against Shiocton, we came back from a 17-24 deficit to tie it up and go extra points with the Chiefs. I was proud of them for not getting rattled under that pressure and getting themselves back in the game. In the future, we hope to be able to come out on top of close games like that.

“We changed some things in the lineup late in the day and we are looking to find the best combination of girls we can put on the floor for the rest of the season,” she added. “The girls are working hard and we are looking to keep improving with every opportunity we have this season.”

Oconto Falls 3, Waupaca 0
WAUPACA – The Panthers swept the Comets 25-11, 25-13, 25-8.

Waupaca will host Denmark at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, before heading to Wausau Saturday, Sept. 19, for an invitational at Newman Catholic.
