Koepp, Violet A.

Violet A. Koepp, age 92, of Fremont, left to go to her eternal home in heaven on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in New London.

She was born on May 1, 1923 in Tustin, WI, the daughter of the late Arthur and Amanda(Lewin)Schmidt. On April 9, 1944, Violet married Lester Koepp at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fremont. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2000. Violet was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Fremont, where for many years she truly enjoyed being a member of the Ladies Aid, LWML, singing in the choir and especially appreciated having the privilege of teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Violet was a member of the Fremont Women’s Fire Brigade during WWII. She also served as the treasurer for the Waupaca County chapter of the American Cancer Society for 15 years, she was a volunteer driver for Social Services, delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at Bethesda Thrift Mart. Violet enjoyed sewing, and sewed many quilts for Lutheran World Relief.

Violet is survived by a daughter, Judy(John)Surak, Clemson, SC; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Koepp, Madison; five grandchildren, Dennis(Rene’)Koepp, Edgerton, WI; Sharon Snitchler, Madison; Brian Koepp, Madison; Kristen Surak, London, England; and Sara Surak, Salisbury, MD; two step-grandchildren, Samantha(Don)Frei, Argyle, WI; and Amanda Starich, Madison; four great-grandchildren, Dax, Parker, Jade and Cameron; a step-great-grandchild, Annalise; brother-in-law, Ray(Clara)Koepp; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Glenn; and a brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Ruth Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 107 Tustin Rd., Fremont. Pastor Stephen Pope will officiate. Burial will be in East Bloomfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 12:30 PM until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Church.
