Event benefits cat rescue group

A benefit raised $3,200 to support the Lost Companion Cat/Kitten Rescue.

The Toto Foundation sponsored the Audrey Hepburn themed cocktail party, at Clear Water Harbor Boathouse on Sept. 23.

The Lost Companion Feral Cat Management Rescue and Rehoming is a non-lethal and humane trap and neuter program to reduce the feral cat population.

After being trapped, the animal is then returned to the location where it was found, since feral cats are attuned to their original environment.

Adoption opportunities are available, if the animal appears friendly and sufficient funding is available for the process.

“Every four seconds, an animal is killed by euthanasia because no one wants the animal. Therefore, adoption is the perfect answer,” said Deb Schulz, Lost Companion’s board co-founder and board director.

Attendees were encouraged to wear vintage clothing. Backward Glances, a vintage clothier and accessories shop, supplied some of the evening’s apparel.
