Manawa PTO hosts Wolf Walk

Event raises funds for students

The fifth annual PTO Wolf Walk was held Friday, Oct. 5.

During the fundraiser, students in grades 4K to sixth grade collect pledges and then walk the Little Wolf High School track.

The event is sponsored by the Manawa Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization. Proceeds from past Wolf Walks have allowed the PTO to help offset unbudgeted expenses and directly benefit elementary students.

In the past four years, the PTO has donated $6,000 toward the startup of a Book Room to promote literacy, purchased a hand chime set for the music program, helped offset costs of field trips, hosted a family game night, purchased technology to aid learning, and hosted a fun day and picnic at the end of the school year.

Local businesses and individuals donate money, products and services to support the event.

The Elementary School PTO was created in fall 2007. Its mission is to support the students and staff of Manawa Elementary School.

The PTO organizes school events such as the Wolf Walk, Red Ribbon Week activities, and other school-community programs. New members are always welcome.
