Culver’s hosts Waupaca DI team

Girls with Waupaca Middle School’s Super Seven Destination Imagination teams are collecting shoes and raising money to help Sole Hope, Soles4Souls and the Waupaca Miracle Tree.

To support their efforts, community members can dine at the Culver’s restaurant on West Fulton Street in Waupaca from 5-10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26. During those hours, Culver’s will donate 10 percent of their sales toward helping the girls pay shipping costs for the items they collect for Sole Hope and Soles4Souls.

Soles4Souls is a not-for-profit enterprise that distributes shoes to people living in poverty around the world.

The DI girls are collecting new or genlty worn athletic shoes, running shoes, dress shoes, sandals, work boots, and any shoes for Soles4Souls.

Sole Hope provides medical assistance to treat and prevent infected feet in Affrica. They also teach people the trade of shoe making.

For Sole Hope, the DI team will collect products for making shoes, such as jeans, thin plastic from milk or laundry soap jugs, large safety pins, pens, and gallon-sized ziplock bags. They will also collect large safety pins, medical gloves, band-aids, alcohol wipes, gauze wrap, triple antibiotic cream, child strength pain medication, medical tape, stickers for children, coloring books and crayons.

For Waupaca Miracle Tree, they are collecting brand new socks.

Items for the project may be dropped off during the event at Culver’s.
