Woman charged with reckless endangerment

A Scandinavia woman accused of attacking her husband with a knife and a baseball bat faces criminal charges.

Angela Sharpless, 37, Scandinavia, is charged with reckless endangerment, misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct as acts of domestic abuse.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, Deputy Matthew Whitacker was dispatched to Shady Drive in Scandinavia in response to a domestic violence complaint. He was advised that Sharpless had a knife, was threatening suicide, and her husband was trying to restrain her.

Dispatch later advised Whitaker that the couple were still struggling and Sharpless could be heard over the phone screaming.

When Whitaker arrived at the home, he found the husband with a bloody hand and a knife on the bedroom floor.

According to the criminal complaint, Sharpless said she had threatened her husband with a knife and admitted to hitting him with a baseball bat. She said a friend told her that her husband was cheating on her, investigators say.

The husband told Deputy Jon Loken that he had filed for a divorce and informed Sharpless of his plans on Oct. 4. He had moved out of the house and was living with a friend.

At 4:44 a.m. Oct. 9, Sharpless allegedly called her husband and told him she was going to hurt herself. When he arrived at the house, the husband found Sharpless in the bedroom crying. She then allegedly attacked him with a baseball bat and hit him in the back and ribs, the complaint says.

While the two were struggling with the baseball bat, Sharpless allegedly grabbed a knife that had been under a blanket on the bed and repeatedly said, “Till death do us part.”
