Beat the Heat volunteers recognized

The Clintonville Lions Club honored Terry Lorge, Craig Hodne and Dick Fletcher for their years of dedication to the Beat the Heat program.

Each year the club recognizes an outstanding volunteer of the year, this is the first year three volunteers have shared the honor.

Lorge, Hodne, and Fletcher, along with their spouses and club members shared a steak dinner at Matthews Supper Club, followed by the volunteer recognition program and a meeting. In honor of Lorge, Hodne and Fletcher, a $250 donation was given by the Lions Club to the Clintonville Police Dept. for its K9 unit.

The Beat the Heat program had a 22 year run in Clintonville, successfully nurturing youth in the community and giving many of the kids skills that transferred into life-long careers. Lorge, Hodne and Fletcher gave hundreds of hours of time each to benefit the community.

At a time when the media shares much negativity about police, the Clintonville Lions Club wanted to highlight the positive impact the police led Beat the Heat program, that connected youth and police, had.
