Iola-Scandinavia girls’ basketball team chalked up a 54-47 win against St. Mary Catholic in a non-conference match up, Tuesday, Dec. 15, in Iola.
The Thunderbirds outscored the Zephyrs, 21-16 in the first half of the game, led by Baleigh Fuhs who dropped in 8 points.
The Zephyrs came on strong in the second half, but Leighten Fischer was too much for them to handle as she sank 18 of her game high 22 points.
Maddie Uhlenbrauck led the scoring for St. Mary’s with 20 points, followed by Alicia Thone with 10 and Abbi Thelen with 8 points.
Fischer took top honors for the Thunderbirds with 22 points, followed by Fuhs with 13 and Lexi Hitchcock with 7.
Iola-Scandinavia will travel to Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Friday, Dec. 18 to take on the Chargers.
