Hortonville girls remain undefeated

Polar Bears rank No. 1 in conference

Hortonville High School’s undefeated girls basketball team now ranks No. 1 in the Fox Valley Association after going 5-0 in conference play and 7-0 overall.

Results from last week’s Hortonville girls’ games are as follows.

Hortonville 76, Vincent 69
MILWAUKEE – Strong team scoring led by Hortonville’s Madi Walter propelled the girls forward to defeat Milwaukee Vincent on Saturday, Dec. 19.

Walter scored 26 points and Shay Frederick scored 17. Jenna Jalling and Morgan Allen also produced double-digits scoring with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Other scorers for Hortonville were Lexy Campshure with six points, Olivia Griesbach with four points and Whitney Baumann with two.

Hortonville finished over Vincent after being behind 34-32 at the half.

Hortonville 67, Appleton West 40
HORTONVILLE – A productive second half broke the girls away from the Appleton West Terrors for the win on Friday, Dec. 18.
At the half the Polar Bears led 29-27. In the second half Hortonville nearly tripled West’s scoring, producing 38 points versus West’s 13.

Scoring: Allen 16, Jalling 15, Olivia Griesbach 9, Madi Walter 9, Lexy Campshure 5, Mickayla Miller 4, Claire Van Beek 3, Shay Frederick 2, Emma Kloes 2, Gabby McKeever 2.

Hortonville 60, Kimberly 50
HORTONVILLE – A fourth consecutive win in conference play moved Hortonville’s girls to first in the Fox Valley Association on Dec. 15.

In a close first half that the Polar Bears led 31-30 at the end, the Bears outplayed the Papermakers in the second half by nine points to win 60-50.

Shay Frederick led Hortonville’s scoring with 20 points while Morgan Allen led rebounds with 10 and also contributed 17 points.
