Abraham, Elaine L.

Elaine L. Abraham, age 89, of Fremont, died on Friday, December 25, 2015 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca.

She was born on May 2, 1926 in East Bloomfield, WI, the daughter of the late Harvey and Esther (Kopitzke) Borchardt. On November 15, 1947, Elaine married Robert Abraham at St. John’s Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1993.

Elaine was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fremont where she served with the Ladies Aid for many years. She was very proud of the fact that her home was so close to church, so she could walk there for services. Elaine volunteered for many years at Bethesda, she was also a member of the Fremont Historical Society and Wolf River American Legion Auxiliary Post 391. She waitressed for many years at Swedesky’s (Ted Grandview) and cooked at the Wolf River Drive In. She also cleaned at Valley Bank for over 25 years. Elaine enjoyed canning, baking, gardening, doing needlepoint and embroidery. She also enjoyed babysitting her granddog Roxie and going to get ice cream with her; as well as taking trips up north to the cottage.

Elaine is survived by five children: Mary (Eugene) Snyder, New London; Jim (Susan) Weyauwega; Joan (Gordon) VanOrnum, Fremont; Joyce Abraham, Weyauwega and Bill (Sandy) Abraham; eight grandchildren: Liz (Dave) Wydeven, Katie (Travis) Marg, Laura (Mike) Nowak, Kim (Mike )Dohm, Kyle Bockin, Brad Abraham, Andrea (Andy) Wanty and Bailey Abraham; 12 great-grandchildren: Brittani, Mitchell, Johnathon, Alyssa, Jamie, Brittany, Keegan, Kayla, Lindsey, Alec, Grace and Ryan; three great-grandchilren, Lucas, Kalob and Lenox; two grandpets, Roxie and Mandy; three brothers, Harvey (Bev) Borchardt, Jr., Fremont; Rollin (Diana) Borchardt, New London and Gale Borchardt, Weyauwega; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Abraham, AZ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Elaine was preceded in death by her son, Timothy; a granddaughter, Susan Snyder; a great-grandson, Dakota; a brother, Keith; a sister, Marilyn (Wilmer) Hannemann; her step-mother, Katheryn Borchardt; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack Abraham, Ken (Helena) Abraham, Muriel (Gilbert) Puls, Verna Radtke, Lucille Abraham and Bonnie Borchardt.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 107 Tustin Rd., Fremont. Pastor Stephen Pope will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Lewin Funeral Home, Fremont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elaine’s family would like to extend a very special thank you those people who provided such wonderful home care to her while she was still at home, as well as all of the wonderful people at Bethany Home, who took such great care of her. It was greatly appreciated.
