Krueger, Gladys Fern

Gladys Fern Krueger (nee Olson), age 94 of Clintonville, passed away on December 23, 2015 at Evergreen Care Center in Shawano.

Gladys was born December 13, 1921 in the Town of Matteson, Waupaca County, to Norman and Ethel (Bodoh) Olson. She was united in marriage to Alvin “Jake” Krueger on June 24, 1939 in Clintonville. They raised four children together and were married over 54 years. After Jake’s death on January 9, 1994, Gladys remained on the home farm in Matteson and was a member of Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville. She enjoyed gardening, volunteer work with children, planting and painting gourds, and painting beautiful scenes on canvas. In 2011 she moved to Evergreen Care Center in Shawano where she has resided since. Gladys is remembered for her kindness, love of family, and generous actions. She was loved and admired by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.

Survivors include: children: Wallace (Sally) Krueger of Oconto, Rosalee (David) Harney of Grafton, Jerome (JoAnn) Krueger of Clintonville, and Sandra (Duane) Mitchell of Port St. Lucie, FL; step-daughter, Patricia Cronce of Two Rivers; sister, Patricia (Ray) Miess of Shiocton; grandchildren: Cindy Henschel of Fort Collins, CO; Arthur (Tammy) Harney of Bear Creek, Wallace (Amy) Krueger of Shawano, Tammy (Kim) Phillips of Fremont, Lisa (George) Dunn of Campbellsport, Jason (Meghan) Krueger of Clintonville, Jesse (Wendy) Krueger of Clintonville, Dawn (David) Oyler of Port St. Lucie, FL; Heather (Tony) Radtke of Hartland, Deborah (Troy) Wordell of Two Rivers, Daniel Hoehnen of Two Rivers; step-grandchildren, Michael Settergren of Seymour and Mark Settergren of Tampa, FL. She was also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin “Jake” Krueger; her parents, Norman and Ethel Olson; grandchildren, David Hoehnen and Joey Cronce; her sisters, Norma Olson, Ruby Bellile, Betty Baur, Shirley Niemuth, and a brother Wallace Olson.

Gladys’s funeral service will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Christus Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main Street, Clintonville, WI 54929 with Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in the Town of Matteson. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
