Waupaca Area falls to Storm

Girls’ hockey team to host Green Bay

Waupaca Area scored an early goal against one of the state’s top girls’ hockey teams, but ended up on the short end of a 6-2 score Dec. 22 against the Central Wisconsin Storm.

Markie Ash put Waupaca Area on the board less than two minutes into the game with an unassisted goal, but the Storm answered with three more goals in the period and added three more in the third.

Anna Ryder also scored for Waupaca Area on a power play goal in the third period off of an assist from Jamie Slattery and Katarina Otter-Giese to cut the lead to 4-2, but the Storm added two more goals in the final six minutes.

Cassie Rasmussen stopped 51 shots for Waupaca Area, which will host Green Bay United at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the Waupaca Ice & Expo Center.
