Ruth Lien, age 89, of Iola, died Monday, December 28, 2015 at Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.
She was born in the Town of Iola, Wisconsin on May 6, 1926, daughter of the late Theodore and Marit (Rindahl) Langdok. Ruth married Homer Lien on October 9, 1948 at the Hitterdahl Lutheran Church. He preceded in death on February 21, 2002. Ruth had worked as a secretary for the Leland K Johnson Insurance, a State Farm agency, for 38 years. She was a substitute Village Clerk for Dan Johnson and worked on the Village election board for many years. Ruth was a charter member of the Sons of Norway Norskland Lodge 5-580. She was a volunteer for the lutefisk supper during the Winter Carnival. Ruth also was a long time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Faith Circle, where she had served as the treasurer for a number of years.
Ruth is survived by her son, David and Ginny of Eau Claire, and a daughter, Marie and Shannon Barrett of Fox Point; She is further survived by four grandchildren: Betsy and Sheridan Johnson, Amelia Lien, and Taylor and Brennan Barrett.; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Kolden Johnson. Ruth was preceded in death by three siblings, John Langdok, Clara Madson and Martin Langdok.
A Funeral Service will be held at at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Iola, Wisconsin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 31st with Reverend Dennis Olson officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
