Recycling center takes Christmas trees

Area residents may drop off their Christmas trees at the Waupaca Regional Recycling and Compost Center.

Justin Berrens, Waupaca’s director of public works, said the center will accept the trees for free.

The city and towns of Dayton, Farmington, Lind and Waupaca support the center.

Located at 608 Lakeside Parkway, the recycling is open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Berrens said the Christmas trees are typically ground up for mulch in the spring.

In the past, the Waupaca Jaycees picked up trees placed on the terrace.

That service ended when the group disbanded.
