Waupaca Area falls at home

Bay Area shuts out Waupaca girls

Bay Area handed the Waupaca Area girls’ hockey team a 7-0 nonconference loss Jan. 5 at the Waupaca Ice & Expo Center.

Bay Area, the Green Bay area co-op team that eliminated Waupaca Area from the WIAA tournament last season, scored three goals in the first and second periods and outshot the home team 43-7.

Jordan Kadrlik, Johnanna Cano and Morgan Zirbel scored twice for the Ice Bears, while Megan Call found the net once.

Waupaca Area will head to Rhinelander Friday, Jan. 15, for a Great Northern Conference matchup with Northern Edge. The team will also play Lakeland Saturday, Jan. 16, in Minocqua before hosting Stevens Point/Wisconsin Rapids/Marshfield Monday, Jan. 18, for another conference game.

All three games start at 7 p.m.
