Sexton, Jerome M. “Jerry”

Jerome Martin Sexton “Jerry”, age 58, of Plover, formerly of New London, passed away at St. Joseph’s Residence in New London on Saturday, January 23, 2016, following a courageous eight month battle with melanoma.

Jerry was born on March 1, 1957 in New London to the late Dennis “Dave” and Helen “Annette” (Groher) Sexton. He was united in marriage to Lona Steingraber on June 26, 1982 in New London. Jerry was an avid hunter and loved sports. He especially enjoyed coaching his kids, watching them play and spending time with his family. He was a business analyst for Sentry Insurance for the past 36 years.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Lona; children, Miranda (Bradley) London, Fitchburg and Cullen (Lauryn) Sexton, Greenville; sisters, Kathy Olson, Clintonville and Mary (Larry) Kamke, New Berlin; brothers, Mike Sexton (special friend Maureen Brizzolara), New London; Pat Sexton, New London; Jim Sexton, New London and Mark (Deb) Sexton, Hartland; sisters-in-law, Lynnette (Phil) Wilson, New London; Ruth (Marshall) Goers, Marshfield; Susie Steingraber, New London and brothers-in-law, Roger (Sue) Steingraber, New London; Lee (Kay) Steingraber, New London and Dean (Rhonda) Steingraber, New London. Jerry is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly and other relatives and friends. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Kirk Hansen; maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Adalia Groher and paternal grandparents, Martin and Anna Sexton.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Jerry at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at Cline and Hanson Funeral Home in New London, where a 7:30 p.m. devotional service will be held and again from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. Fr. Robert Groher and Pastor Scott Wolfram will be officiating. Burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery in New London.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s Residence, Heartland Hospice, Capital Lakes Health Center and Dr. McFarland and the staff at UW Hospital.
