American democracy needs repair

Reader says a few super-rich people have rigged the system

The American democracy is broken.

Huge corporations and a few super-wealthy individuals have rigged the system to further enrich themselves. We have to fix that, and we have to begin now.

Only one presidential candidate offers a path to do so, and that is Sen. Bernie Sanders. Sanders takes no special interest money.

For decades Bernie Sanders has been consistent – and consistently correct – on the issues. He voted against the Iraq War Resolution and against the Patriot Act. Both votes were unpopular at the time but both have proven to be the wise choice.

Bernie’s a long-time advocate for our nation’s veterans and they support him as well. In 2014 the American Legion honored him with their Patriot Award; in 2015 the VFW presented to him their prestigious Congressional Award.

Bernie is for Medicare for All, and for expanding and enriching Social Security. Bernie is for funding college education at public universities for all qualified Americans with a tax on Wall Street transactions. Bernie is for a trillion dollar investment to repair and rebuild America’s crumbling infrastructure, which would create millions of jobs.

He proposes to pay for these programs through a progressive tax on Wall Street hedge fund managers and others earning more than $250,000 a year. Fully 170 of our nation’s top economists have endorsed Bernie’s plan.

Bernie’s got the integrity, the vision and the leadership that America needs. Please register to vote, go to the polls with the appropriate ID and vote for Bernie Sanders.
