Ethel Mae Mertz Kiesow, 87, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the Liberty House.
She was born on July 2, 1928 in Waupaca, a daughter of Linton and Irene Paulfrey Mertz. In August of 2004, she married Kent Kiesow. He preceded her in death in 2011. Ethel was an English teacher at Woodworth Junior High School and Theisen Junior High School. She loved teaching, traveling, and the outdoors.
She is survived by a nephew, Brian (Christine) Anderson of Fond du Lac; two great-nieces, Angela Anderson of Oshkosh and Samantha Gustafson of Fond du Lac. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kent; and a sister, Meroe (Arlington “Andy”) Anderson.
The visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory with Pastor Tom Meyer officiating.
