Crain, Robert E.

Robert “Bob” E. Crain, age 87, New London, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 3, 1928, son of the late Arthur and Margaret (Loughrin) Crain. On May 17, 1975, he was united in marriage to Gail (Blondey). She preceded him in 2011. Bob lived and farmed on the family farm until his retirement. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family. Bob especially enjoyed family gatherings for birthdays and holidays. He loved spending his time with his great-grandchildren, seeing them play, laugh and watch cartoons. He was a big part of his family’s life. Bob was a quiet, sincere and loving man with a big heart. He will be missed very deeply by his family and relatives. Bob looked forward to the New Dublin Irish Fest every year; he was the Irishman of the year in 1993. He enjoyed watching the Packers and Badgers.

Bob is survived by his children, Gina (Jamie) Wroblewski, New London; Paul, New London and Scott (Tami) Crain, Palmer, Alaska; grandchildren: Kylie, Kaycie (Chad), Kenzie (Jon), Kelli (Dan), Karli (Ricky), Marcus, Kayla, Katie, Nicholas, Triton and Lavonne; great-grandchildren: Jayce, Jayden, Jayla, Aiyanna and Avayah; brothers-in-law, Clair Flease, Arnie Tennie and Bucky Meydam; sisters-in-law, Suzy Crain, Mary Fran Crain and Dorothy Blondey. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gail, brothers, Jack, Art, and Bill; sisters, Kate, Marie, Regina and Marge; sisters-in-law, Patricia Crain, June Meydam and brothers-in-law, Marlin Blondey, Judd Jagoditsch and Dave Bricco.

Funeral services for Bob will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, (Lebanon), New London, with Rev. Msgr. Dennis Lally officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London and also at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Most Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery in New London.

The family would like to thank ThedaCare Hospice for their care and guidance, special thanks to his granddaughters and sons, who also helped with his care over the years, and also Jamie, without all of your help it wouldn’t have been possible to keep Bob in his home.
