Clintonville girls wrestle at state

Jung, Breitrick win WWF championships

Lacey Jung and Tabitha Breitrick took championships in their weight class at the WWF High School Girls State Championship in Wisconsin Dells on March 12.

Jung, a sophomore, entered the 159 pound weight class becoming state champion unopposed. Wanting to wrestle, she withdrew herself and bumped up to the 172 pound weight class. Jung was one of seven girls in the weight class.

She won her first match with a 2:26 fall over Morgan Lemke of De Soto. Jung was then defeated with a 1:49 fall by Sara Kouba of Tomahawk in the second round. In Jung’s third match she won by a 1:47 fall over Kaitlyn Kuhlman of Kettle Moraine. This sent Lacy into the finals for 3rd place where she was defeated by Natalie Kemp of Advance School of Wrestling with a 1:24 fall.

Jung finished the 172 pound class with a fourth place.

Breitrick, a freshman, entered the 198 pound weight class to wrestle off Desley Sabby of River Falls. Breitrick needed to win 2 of 3 matches. In the first round she won by a 2:57 fall. In the second round she won by a 2:48 fall over Sabby, securing the 198 pound championship.

Jung and Breitrick have wrestled since kindergarten and have placed at state several times over their years in the sport.
