Badger Girls, Boys delegates chosen

Waupaca students headed to state session

This June, three Waupaca High School girls are going to Badgers Girls State, and three WHS boys are going to Badger Boys State.

Larkin Hooker-Moericke and Dakota Marlega are American Legion delegates, and Jane Ryder is a Waupaca Rotary delegate.

Zoe Johnson is an American Legion Alternate, and JennaMarie Pagel is a Waupaca Rotary Alternate.

Badger Girls State is being held June 19-24, at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Wisconsin’s American Legion Auxiliary has sponsored it since 1941.

Badger Boys State, a program of the state’s American Legion, will be held June 11-18, at Ripon College.

 

Robert Durfee and Ryan Phillipsen are American Legion delegates, and Douglas Byers is a Waupaca Rotary delegate.

Christian Bump is an American Legion Alternate 1, and Marvin Van Asten is an American Legion Alternate 2.

Drake Hiddeman is a Waupaca Rotary Alternate.

For 75 years, hundreds of Wisconsin high school students have spent a week learning first-hand how state and local governments operate.

They elect their own aldermen, county supervisors, sheriffs, judges and district attorneys, conduct board meetings and hold trials.
