Clintonville baseball, softball teams suffer four straight losses

The Clintonville baseball and softball teams each suffered four consecutive losses last week.

Baseball ended the week 0-6 in conference play and 1-6 overall. Game summaries are included in this article.

Softball was 1-6 in conference play as of last weekend. Last week the team lost 27-0 to Wrightstown, 14-2 to Oconto Falls and, in a doubleheader, 13-0 and 15-4 to Marinette.

The softball team is 1-8 overall, following a nonconference 24-0 loss to Shawano on Monday, April 25. Summaries aren’t included as stats were not submitted.

As of Sunday, April 24, Clintonville’s Autumn Clark tied for eighth in the North Eastern Conference for batting average (.444).

Marinette doubleheader
MARINETTE – Clintonville baseball lost to the Marines 6-5 and 10-2 in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 23. No other information was available.

Waupaca 8, Clintonville 1
CLINTONVILLE – In a rain-shortened game, Waupaca pounded out nine hits while taking advantage of six walks and three errors to top the Truckers 8-1 on Thursday, April 21.

Pitcher Jason Ellie took the win for Waupaca, allowing two hits through five innings.

Clintonville scored its run during the third inning.

Little Chute 5, Clintonville 4
LITTLE CHUTE – Little Chute took advantage of two errors, a wild pitch, a walk and a two-RBI single from Leighton Meyers to score four runs in the sixth inning to beat the Truckers on April 18.

Clintonville established a 4-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning before giving Little Chute opportunities to score.
