Doris A. Coburn, aged 77 years, passed from this life into the next on May 4, 2016 at her home in Ashland, Virginia.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Roena Drews Pomrening who lived their lives in Wisconsin.
Doris graduated from Clintonville High School, Clintonville, WI. She worked as a homemaker for most of her adult life. She also spent many years working as a secretary. She has been an active member of First Baptist Church, Ashland for many years. Doris loved to visit and explore new places. She moved to California at the age of 20. She and her husband David traveled to all of the United States except Maine and Alaska. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and spent many happy hours reading, quilting and in artistic endeavors.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years David Coburn. By her children, Jeff (Lori) Coburn of Sacramento, CA; Paul Coburn, his children, Lauren and Graham and their mother Donna Coburn of Ashland, VA; and Julie (Greg) Mowris of Knoxville, TN and their daughters, Savana and Keely. By David’s children, Dana (Erin) Coburn of Bonanza, OR and his son Dana; and Candace Coburn of Rancho Cordova, CA. By her brothers and sisters: Phil (Phyllis) Pomrening; Roger (Lucy) Pomrening; Faye Green; Verna (Norb) Dallman; and Joann (Red) Thulien; and her brother-in-law Bill Gley; and their families.
There will be a Memorial service on Sunday, May 22 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 800 Thompson Street, Ashland, VA 23005.
