The Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds softball team beat the Waupaca Comets 4-3 during a May 13 nonconference matchup in Iola.
The Comets got on the board right away in the first inning when Victoria Nowak scored a run.
Kenzie Simpson put the next point on the board for the Comets when she hit a home run in the top of the fourth inning.
In the sixth inning, Brooklynn Podgorny made the T-Birds’ first hit, then Sadie Schustek was walked.
Kaylin Ellioff and Megan Thulien each had an RBI, to tie the score at 2-2.
In the top of the seventh, Jenson Trinrud got on base for the Comets. Caroline Ogden got a hit to bring Trinrud in, leaving the Comets up 3-2.
In the bottom of the seventh, Ellioff was on base when Kendall Johnson got an RBI to tie the score at 3-3. Podgorny and Schustek each were walked to load up the bases. When Baleigh Fuhs was hit with a pitch for a walk, which brought in the winning run.
The T-Birds will be back in action on Monday, May 16, when they play Pacelli. Waupaca will host Little Chute.
